At the heart of the Lower Region of Virginia’s Eastern Shore is Cape Charles, a quaint harbor town located on the Chesapeake Bay at the southern end of the Delmarva Peninsula. Our historic town offers a public beach with spectacular sunsets, boating & charter fishing, shops, restaurants, galleries, spas, free fishing pier and two PGA signature golf courses. Both Kiptopeke State Park and the Eastern Shore & Fisherman Island Nation Wildlife Refugee are nearby and boast nature trails, hiking, and bird watching.

Golf, biking, kayaking, boating, crabbing, clamming, and fishing are always popular activities in this part of the shore. The Eastern Shore, Virginia Welcome Center at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and tunnel is a convenient stop for information on the Eastern Shore.

Machipongo , a quiet rural town is home to both Chatham Vineyards, and the Barrier Islands Center, a historic museum where the not-so-distant past is celbrated and preserved.

Eastville , a pleasant gathering of large homes where wide porches are shaded by graceful old oaks, is home to the oldest continuous court records in the nation, dating from 1632, located at The Courthouse Green.
